Anyways, once, not so very long ago in the grand scheme of things, I actually took care of my nails. They were always well groomed and self-manicured - I thought my hands looked so much nicer with the nails painted, especially when I went through the bother of giving myself a French-style manicure with white tips. I even splurged on fancy OPI nail lacquer.
Then, I moved into my own apartment, and the manicures came to a screeching halt.
A manicure just doesn’t do well when faced with dishwashing, and having the responsibility of living on my own land in my lap meant that suddenly I had way less time for such trivial pursuits as giving myself a manicure. I still have my small - fewer than 10 bottles - collection of OPI nail lacquer, and every once in a while I’ll look at them, and give the bottles a little shake to see if they’ve turned solid yet, and think wistfully back to the time when my nails always looked good, and ponder setting some time aside to revisit those good ol’ days.
Of course, my nails are in borderline desperate need of a good trim, since three of them are broken and two have a strange wonkiness to their edges. My cuticles are kind of on the dry side too.
Well. Maybe in a couple of weeks everything will be all evened out and I can once again ponder the land of the manicured.
Or maybe in a couple of weeks I’ll be even worse off than I am now…. *eek*
